Come along to learn your pollinators! We'll be picking some flowery spots in the area and participating in the national pollinator survey. A good opportunity to learn some different types of bees and get your head round some of the many other pollinating insects we rely on. We'll use our data to compare our patch to the national average and to understand what our local pollinators like so we can plant more around the area.
No prior knowledge needed - we'll work it out together! We will be sitting or squatting close to the ground for this though. If that isn't up your street, I will also bring binoculars for surveying the birds in the area which can be done in much more comfort.
Pollinators prefer warm and dry days, so if it's cold and wet we'll go for a local walk identifying spring plants that come up wild in our area and removing rubbish as we go. GCG is signed up to a challenge to learn 100 new wild plants in 2026 so this will be our first big search. As always, come with curiosity, no knowledge required.

One for the early risers and the keen beans! Come and learn about the nature that lives in the intertidal zone along our shores with our local marine citizen science expert Emma Lowe. This early morning is an extra low tide so we'll be able to see and learn a lot.
We're hoping to convince the powers that be that this area should be a community nature reserve of some sort. Your help in spotting all the creatures and seaweed that live here will be invaluable in making our case.
We'll buy you a coffee!
